Banana trees are trees that are found on Karamja. They may also be grown by players with level 33 Farming. Players must plant a banana tree seed in a filled plant pot. A gardening trowel is needed to plant the seed, by using the seed with the filled plant pot. It must then be watered using a filled watering can, turning it into a banana seedling (w). After 5 minutes or less, the planted seed will become a banana sapling and can then be planted in an empty fruit tree patch. Compost or Super Compost may be added prior to planting, and once planted (using a spade and trowel), the nearby farmer may be paid to watch over the tree. Payment is 4 baskets of apples (can be noted).
A banana Sapling may take sixteen or more hours to mature. An amulet of nature may be bound to the patch to provide progress on its growth. Once mature, the tree produces up to six bananas at a time.
Planting the banana sapling gives 28 farming experience. A healthy banana tree, when checked, provides 1,750.5 farming experience. If the tree is diseased and the farmer is not watching over it, the disease may be removed using secateurs. If left alone, the diseased tree will die.
Each banana, when picked from a tree in a fruit tree patch, gives 10.5 farming experience. Once all 6 bananas have been picked, the tree will slowly produce more bananas until all 6 are available again. However, the bananas may be picked anytime they show on the tree.
Banana tree seeds may be obtained from bird's nests.
