The Black chainbody is better defence than Steel chainbody, and can be worn by a player with 25 Defence. Players can purchase this item at the Keldagrim, Falador, and Ardougne Chainmail shops. This item cannot be made using the smithing skill, and has the same bonuses as a white chainbody, except for the +1 prayer bonus. Like all black armour, this requires an defence level of 25 to equip.

Sold at Wayne's chains shop south in Falador for 1440 coins, and at Saro's armour shop in Keldagrim for 1872 coins.

As with all black and white equipment, the Black chainbody cannot be made from raw materials using the Smithing skill.

Glitch while wearing the black chainbody your body went transparent.

• Following a graphical update to the equipment on 6 March, 2012, the player's torso appears transparent whilst wearing a black chainbody. This was fixed a day later. Because of this glitch the price of the body was being sold at extremely high prices but quickly dropped.
