A player with black armour equipped.
Black equipment are items made from black metal. Black equipment is stronger than steel equipment, yet weaker than mithril equipment. As the name suggests, the equipment is black in colour. Black armour requires 10 Defence to wield, weapons require 10 Attack. Black equipment is almost identical to white equipment, unlocked after the Wanted! quest, however, white equipment is member's only and has a slight Prayer bonus.
A set of black armour is used in the King's Ransom quest and in Heroes' Quest (helmet, platebody and platelegs). In Heroes' Quest, you will only need the black armour if you're part of the Black Arm Gang. For King's Ransom, a black plateskirt will also suffice instead of the platelegs.
Black items cannot be smithed.

Weapons
Black weapons require an Attack level of 10 to wield.
Note: Attack speeds are given as numbers, where higher is faster, meaning that higher numbers constitute shorter time-intervals between each hit. An attack speed of 6 has a 2.4-second interval, 5 has a 3-second interval, 4 has a 3.6-second interval, and 3 has a 4.2-second interval between hits.

Note: Other players cannot trim or bless armour. Players claiming to do so are scammers.
