The broken pickaxe is the remains of a pickaxe after a player has attempted to extract ore from a smoking rock and the rock explodes. Nurmof will repair broken pickaxes for free or a fee depending on the pickaxe type. You cannot mine with a broken or damaged pickaxe... but you can get it fixed if it's damaged, drop it and/or examine it. You can also bank them for later repairs or sell them as well. Note that you can only sell whole and undamaged pickaxes to Nurmof's shop in the Dwarven mines but you can sell whole, damaged or broken pickaxes to any player or the General Store. You can also buy or sell the heads and pickaxe handles from other players or the General Store too.
