The chicken is used during the bridge section of Recruitment Drive with Sir Spishyus.
The chicken cannot be left with the grain alone on one side of the bridge, or else the chicken will eat the grain, while it also cannot be left alone with the fox, or else it will be eaten. If either of these two events occur, the player will fail and must restart.
