The Crazy archaeologist is relatively a simple boss, but a simple mistake can cause some damage to you with his special attack.
The most effective way is to use Magic while protecting from ranged and avoiding his special attack of explosive books.
An alternative method is to use Melee with high Ranged Defence armour, such as Torag's armour while using a weapon with good accuracy such as an Abyssal whip or a Zamorakian hasta. Using Protect from Melee is required with this method. Be careful, if you die above level 20 wilderness, certain equipment, such as fire capes and defenders, will be converted to coins!
