The Dragon helm is the second strongest medium helmet in RuneScape behind Dharok's helm. It was the first piece of dragon armour to be released into the game. It may be enchanted by Pikkupstix at level 50 Summoning, which will enable it to store up to 110 summoning scrolls, making the helm's eyes glow red.
The helmet was once held in high regard as being the best defence offering helmet in the game, and also a fairly good slash defensive bonus, due to this it once cost upwards of 3 million coins, but upon the release of the Barrows helmets, the Helm of neitiznot, the Berserker Helm, Dragon full helm, the Grand Exchange, and considerably more monsters to drop the helmet, the price dropped dramatically. Due to the helmets cheap price, it is often used by people who do not have as much money to buy higher priced ones, or when there is risk of losing it.
The Helm of Neitiznot requires The Fremennik Isles quest to equip and is often considered a better, cheaper alternative to the dragon helm because it provides a strength and prayer bonus, as well as no negative bonuses, a higher Crush defence, and a +3 Magic defence bonus.
An interesting fact, however, is that the dragon helm is the same price as its free-to-play counter-part, the Corrupt Dragon helm. When Cyrisus is wearing the helmet on his chathead it looks very different from on a player.
Due to the lack of a quest requirement, high defence bonuses and low price when compared to its counterpart the dragon full helm, this helm, in conjunction with a granite platebody and dragon platelegs, is usually worn by many combat bots.
