Drop parties are events in which players drop items for fun, and other players try to pick them up first. Drop parties are held in the Falador Party Room, but actually, they can now be held anywhere in Gielinor on any world.
Drop parties are often advertised in the events section of the RuneScape Forums on the RuneScape website or at the Grand Exchange. Some scammers falsely advertise drop parties in order to obtain donations from other players to drop, or lure unsuspecting players into dangerous locations like the Wilderness, but many drop parties are legitimate. Drops at drop parties may range from junk, like tin ore, to extremely valuable items, such as dragon, Barrows items, and godswords.
Types of drop parties
There are two types of drop parties:
Traditional drop parties
Players would manually drop items on the floor. The host would have to run to a bank to retrieve items after dropping their inventory. It is a common practice to use Telekinetic Grab at such parties, even though this is often frowned upon. It is also quite common for players to set up box traps on predicted item spawning spots. This makes it more difficult for other players to retrieve the dropped items, and is also frowned upon and seen as "trolling."
Falador Party Room
In the Party Room, different players can put items into the chest, and they will be released at the same time. Before the balloons were implemented, it was impossible to cast Telekinetic Grab inside the room.
