While on Fossil Island you can hunt Herbiboars, to earn Hunter and Herblore experience. Tracking the creatures involves inspecting rocks and mushrooms around the area to find tracks. By following the tracks more objects can be inspected to eventually reveal a burrow containing a Herbiboar. Once the player Attacks the burrow, Hunter xp is earned and the creature can be harvested for herbs. There is a chance to obtain the Herbi pet when a player harvests the creature.
