The Ice demon is one of the bosses encountered in the Chambers of Xeric.
Strategy
Kindling must be chopped from the trees just outside the boss room, and then lit in all braziers at once. More kindling will need to be added to the braziers over time. This will eventually thaw the ice demon, at which point it can be attacked.
Once the ice demon is thawed, players can use Protect from Magic against the demon as it uses Ice Burst. A more effective strategy is to use Protect from Range, as the ice demon will then hurl boulders at the player that will deal significantly less damage and are very easy to dodge by moving 2 squares after he targets the player. The blowpipe is an effective weapon against the ice demon, especially with dragon darts. Other forms of Ranged attacks are also effective.
Be sure to stockpile enough kindling near the braziers, as they can go out rather quickly. In addition, the demon can freeze itself back very quickly. By stockpiling kindling near the braziers, you can add more quickly if they go out, which will prevent the demon from undoing the team's actions.
Trivia
- In very large raids, teams would often quit if they encountered the Ice demon, as regardless of how much kindling was being put in the braziers, it would extinguish them at a very rapid rate in addition to the kindlings barely doing anything against the demon. This was later changed with some patch notes.
