The Iron scimitar is a scimitar stronger than the Bronze scimitar. It can only be used in combat. Players can make an iron scimitar with the smithing skill at level 20 using 2 iron bars, giving the player 50 smithing experience. Players can purchase this scimitar from Zeke's Superior Scimitars in Al-Kharid. This scimitar can also be purchased from the Grand Exchange in Varrock.
In the past, players used this item to scam players; when noted, distinguishing between the rune scimitar and the iron scimitar can be difficult. The scammer would switch the items right as the trade was completing, causing the person buying to lose unnecessary amounts of money. This scam was rendered obsolete by the removal of unbalanced trade. However, due to the return of free trade as of February 2011, there is a possibility it may return.
The Iron scimitar is a popular weapon for strength pures in PvP situations because it has decent stats for its level and is very cheap.
