Maniacal monkeys are located in Kruk's Dungeon which the player visits during Monkey Madness II.

Compared to the skeletal monkeys in the Ape Atoll Dungeon, maniacal monkeys may be seen as a better choice for players wishing to train Ranged or Magic with multi-target attacks. However, the effects of the salve amulet (ei) do not apply to maniacal monkeys, whilst they do for the skeletal monkeys. On the other hand, maniacal monkeys have a high aggression range and come in large quantities, and also commonly drop one-dose prayer potions to replenish prayer points. These potions are dropped more frequently than used, potentially making killing these monkeys profitable.

Trivia

• Prior to an update on 12 May 2016, Maniacal monkeys dropped Rune scimitars. The reason for their removal was because of the massive amount of scimitars entering the game.
• On release, maniacal monkeys appeared the same as a monkey zombie. It received a graphical update in an update on 26 May 2016, to match the appearance of their hunter counterparts.
• After an update on 26 January 2017 Manical monkeys no longer drop the zombie champion scroll.
