Plant a cactus seed in the cactus patch in Al-Kharid. It will take about 9.3 hours to grow, but can be harvested infinitely many times.
A higher Farming level results a higher average yield. The minimum yield is always three, but at 99 Farming the average is around ten spines.
Cactus spines are used to make weapon poison(+) and to pay farmers to care for yew trees. A new one spawns on the cactus every 25 minutes, for up to three total every 75 minutes. To get to the patch, simply use a ring of dueling or an amulet of glory to teleport to Al-Kharid. Pick the spines, possibly noting them with the tool leprechaun, and then bank them.
This method works well with other harvesting money-makers, such as picking papayas or coconuts. The 75 minute timer also makes it coincide well with herb-farming runs (which can be done every 90 minutes).Due to constantly changing prices on the Grand Exchange, some information in this article may or may not be current.
