An oak tree requires level 15 Woodcutting to chop down. It is the lowest level tree that gives more than one log, in this case oak logs, which grants 37.5 Woodcutting experience for each set of logs a player collects from a tree, before being cut down. They can be found in places such as:

The logs can also be cut down to be turned into oak planks at the Sawmill operator, northeast of Varrock (members only).

As with most other trees that can give more than one log, oak trees have a 1 in 8 chance of depleting per log chopped.

A player needs level 15 Firemaking and a tinderbox to turn oak logs into a fire. Doing so gives the player 60 Firemaking experience.

Oak trees can also be grown with the Farming skill. Players may plant an acorn into a plant pot with a gardening trowel to get an oak seedling, then use a watering can to water the seedling and wait until it grows into an oak sapling which can then be planted into the appropriate tree patch using a spade.

Tree patches are located in Lumbridge, Taverley, Varrock, Falador, and the Tree Gnome Stronghold. Planting the sapling gives 14 Farming experience and checking the tree once it has finished growing gives 467.5 experience. You can pay a farmer nearby 1 basket of tomatoes (can be noted) to watch your tree for you. It takes approximately 200 minutes (3 hours and 20 minutes) for an oak tree to fully grow. A fully grown tree can be dug up to gain oak roots.

Main article: Fletching

Oak logs from oak trees can be cut into oak shortbows at level 20 Fletching (granting 16.5 Fletching experience for unstrung and another 16.5 experience for stringing), and oak longbows at level 25 (granting 25 experience for unstrung and another 25 experience for stringing). They can also be cut into 30 arrow shafts for 10 experience at level 15.
