An onyx amulet (u) is the unstrung version of the regular onyx amulet. It is made by using a gold bar on a furnace, while having a cut onyx and an amulet mould in the inventory.
Level 90 Crafting is required to make one, and it grants 165 experience. When used with a ball of wool, it becomes an onyx amulet, giving 4 experience. After it is strung, it can be enchanted into an Amulet of fury, which requires level 87 Magic and yields 97 experience.

- Before the Monkey Madness II Update, this item used to have the highest Crafting requirement in the game. However, the Zenyte amulet has now the highest Crafting requirement of level 98.
