A salve shard is a piece of a crystal outcrop that is obtained during the Haunted Mine quest. To extract them, a chisel must be used on one of the outcrops at the bottom level of the mine. It is used to craft a salve amulet.
If returning to mine more shards after the quest is completed, climb over the mine cart just south-west of the eastern entrance, then crawl through the cart tunnel. Then, enter another cart tunnel directly south. The player will then arrive at the crystal outcrops.
