A Sapphire lantern is a bullseye lantern that has a cut sapphire in place of its more usual glass lens. Making the lantern requires level 49 Crafting. Lamp oil needs to be added before the lantern can be lit.

The lantern is a light source and is used for attracting Light creatures in the Tears of Guthix cavern. Players need to use these creatures to traverse the cavern in the Tears of Guthix quest.

The lantern can be made at any time, independent of quests and activities, as long as the Crafting level is 49.

To make the Sapphire Lantern, the player must use a cut sapphire on a normal or unlensed bullseye lantern. If the lantern used had a lens, the player will receive a lens in their inventory. After the player is finished using the sapphire lantern, they may use a bullseye lantern lens to convert it back into a normal bullseye lantern and retrieve the sapphire.

Note: You do not need level 49 crafting if you just swap the lens in an already completed lantern for a cut sapphire.

Trivia

• While the examine text states that the sapphire lantern casts a blue light, the screen appears the same in dark spaces as if using any other light source.
