A Staff is a cheap magic weapon, which you can choose to autocast with. While the basic staff is the cheapest staff available, unlike elemental staves it does not provide unlimited elemental runes and as a result is rarely used.
This item can be bought from Zaff's Superior Staffs! in Varrock, and is a drop from Wizards, Dark wizards, and even Barbarians.
