Torag the Corrupted's equipment is obtainable from the Barrows minigame. Completing the Barrows minigame does not guarantee players will get a Barrows item. The set consists of a helmet, platebody, platelegs, and a two-handed pair of hammers.
Torag's set requires 70 Defence to wear the armour and 70 Attack and 70 Strength to wield the weapon.
Torag's helmet and platelegs are often used by players using Ranged who wish to tank (maximise Defence in order to take as little damage as possible), as the armour gives good defensive bonuses with only small penalties to Ranged accuracy. The set (not including the hammers) holds the highest Defence against Melee attacks, and higher stats compared to other Barrows sets for Ranged Defence bonus. Torag's armour set is one of the most powerful in the game and is known as the classic "Tank" armour, as it provides one of the best Melee and Ranged Defences in the game.
The hammers carry a fairly high crush bonus, potentially making them useful for enemies such as waterfiends or players equipped with platebodies.
Set effect[]
Corruption: Successful Melee attacks have a 25% chance of lowering the victim's run energy by 20%, similar to the Abyssal whip special attack, Energy Drain.
Like Karil's set, it has no effect on NPCs. Also, because this effect is only active when fighting other players, it can only be used in PVP minigames or in the Wilderness when player killing.
Torag's and Karil's set effects are regarded by many as the worst set effects out of all the Barrows armour, as draining run energy is not always a PKer's top priority.
In spite of having the reputation of the worst special effect, if a player's target is to slow down their opponent to a walking pace, i.e. if they are run-and-gunning (ranging from far distances and running), this can be effectively done by performing a whip special attack (which would lower the opponent's run energy by 10 percent), followed by Torag's set effect. This would leave the opponent with 70 run energy.
When Torag's set and the Amulet of the damned are equipped, the wearer will have his/her Defence increased according to the amount of damage taken; the boost is a 1% increase in Defence for every 1% health the wearer is missing.
The effect provided by the set alongside the amulet can be used to achieve an extreme level of Defence, and may be viable for tanking powerful attacks from bosses such as the God Wars generals. However, since Torag's hammers aren't a particularly good weapon, it is recommended to reserve this technique for team strategies only.
