The trident of the seas (e) is an enchanted magical staff that requires 75 Magic to wield. It is an enchanted version of the regular trident of the seas obtained by giving Lieve McCracken 10 kraken tentacles, costing 4,712,040. It holds 20,000 charges, rather than the 2,500 charges of the unenchanted version.
Charging the trident requires 1 death rune, 1 chaos rune, 5 fire runes and 10 coins per cast, costing 6,540,000 coins to fully charge it, and 327 per cast. A fully charged trident (e) requires 20,000 death runes, 20,000 chaos runes, 100,000 fire runes and 200,000 coins. Trident charges can be removed at anytime to recover the runes, however the coins will not be refunded. Charging the trident requires level 75 Magic.
Unlike regular combat spells, the trident does not reward a base xp for each cast. Instead, players are rewarded experience for each point of damage dealt. The experience gained is 2 xp per damage dealt.
Players with level 59 Crafting can attach a magic fang to the enchanted trident using a chisel, creating a trident of the swamp (e). This enhances its magic attack bonus, and has the ability to infect a target with venom. However, to take advantage of those benefits requires using Zulrah's scales instead of coins to charge the trident.
If a player dies with the trident, only the uncharged trident will appear on the floor (if it's not protected on death).
Maximum hit
The max hit dealt by the trident is dependent on the player's current Magic level, starting at 20 with level 75 Magic and increasing by one every three Magic levels, up to a maximum of 31 at level 108 (obtainable only through super magic potions in a Nightmare Zone dream or with the Imbued heart). Both magic damage bonuses and stat boosts will modify the max hit of the spell; likewise, stat-reductions will lower the damage, but the minimum max hit will never fall below 20, even if the player's Magic level is reduced below 75.
Requires 240 Telekinetic, 240 Alchemist, 2400 Enchantment and 240 Graveyard points, and a teacher wand equipped or in the player's inventory, to purchase from the Mage Training Arena. Thus it does not cost much besides the time and runes spent in the Mage Training Arena.
Has a special attack that halves all melee damage the player takes for one minute, which stacks with the PvP damage reduction effect of the Protect from Melee prayer. This consumes 100% of the player's special attack.
When a combat spell is cast with the staff, there is a 1/8 (12.5%) chance that the staff will negate the rune cost for that spell.
Currently the strongest staff when used as a melee weapon, surpassing the Ancient staff and Iban's staff, and provides +17 magic defence.
Has its own built-in spell, requiring charges which cost 115 runes and 10 coins per cast. Can hold up to 2,500 charges.
Built-in spell damage scales with the player's Magic level and can hit up to 28 at 99 .
Has a weapon speed of 6 (same as scimitars/whip), while all other forms of combat magic only have 5 (same as longswords).
Because the spell is built-in, the player does not need to carry its runes in their inventory and can use Lunar spells or Ancient Magicks while wielding this staff.
